When the author moved into her house on family land several years ago, she asked her father to plant a breadfruit tree. It was a third generation plant and became a prolific tree. What was she to do with all that breadfruit? By the end of the second year, the tree had doubled in size and there was more breadfruit than just the family could eat, or could be given away to friends and neighbors. So, the “ulu” dinners began.
